MARK GABLE V. NBC AND GREGORY THOMAS GARCIA

Joining forces with renowned attorney Tom Girardi of Girardi & Keese, Lowe Law is co-counsel in an action against NBC and Greg Garcia based upon defendants’ copying of original elements from screenwriter Mark Gable’s screenplay entitled “Karma,” in connection with the hit television show entitled, “My Name is Earl.”

THE JACKSON SISTERS v. UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP

In 1973, The Jackson Sisters recorded one album, which sold very few copies, and ended their music career in 1976. Fast-forward 30 years; The Jackson Sisters’ discovered that they had become a cult sensation in Europe and Japan. To date, The Jackson Sisters have never received one dime from the sales of their album. Lowe Law represents The Jackson Sisters in their action against Universal Music Group, the distributor of the album, to obtain royalties and other compensation.

CHARLES MARCUS ALVAREZ V. CAPITOL RECORDS, et. al.

Music producer/songwriter Charles Marcus Alvarez is represented by Lowe Law in his action against Capitol Records, and others, for copyright infringement based upon their appropriation of his musical composition which he submitted to several people at Capitol Records while working there, in connection with the hit R&B song by artist J. Holiday entitled “Suffocate.”

BOB RUBIN v. JOHN SCHNEIDER AND ROB SCHNEIDER

Lowe Law represents comedic actor Bob Rubin in a breach of contract action against comedic actor Rob Schneider and his brother John Schneider with respect to financing obtained for Rob Schneider’s film entitled, “The Chosen One.”

Lowe Law represents a screenwriter in a copyright infringement action against Midway, a computer game company, for using plaintiff’s screenplay entitled “Psi-Ops,” and content obtained from his websites promoting same, as the basis for their video game entitled "Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy."

Representation of a writer whose screenplay was used as the basis for the ABC hit show “Desperate Housewives,” without authorization or compensation.

PETERSEN v. MIDWAY

Successfully settled action by model/actress “Dena Cali” against beauty supply company for trademark infringement (among other claims). Action based upon their conduct in exceeding the scope of rights granted to them by using her trade name as the name of multiple products.

HATHAWAY v. ARK 21 RECORDS et. al.

Settled action against Ark 21 Records and Miles Copeland concerning, among other things, the failure of a label that did business with Ark 21 Records to meet minimum delivery requirements.

NELSON v. KEYMEN MUSIC, et. al.

Lowe Law represented ‘Bob & Earl,’ the legendary R&B duo behind the hit song“Harlem Shuffle.”  Within approximately two years of having been retained, the firm successfully settled a dispute over the ownership of a library of R&B classics that had been unresolved after nearly a decade of litigation.

FARID ZALAND, v. SEYED E. KABEHIE; SOGHRA; and PARS VIDEO, INC.

Represented an Iranian music producer in a lawsuit brought against him by his record company in state court of appeals, obtaining a favorable published opinion in Kabehie v. Zaland, 102 Cal. App. 4th 513 (Cal. Ct. App. 2002). Successfully settled the state court matter as well as a lawsuit brought by the producer against his record company for copyright infringement in federal court.

KELVIN WILLIAMS, UPRISE PRODUCTIONS, v. UMG RECORDINGS, INC. et. al.

Successfully represented a young film maker in a Federal Court action against Universal, and others, for multiple claims arising out of use of film makers contributions to a successful DVD.

ESTATE OF SHAKUR v. PLATINUM GROVE ENTERTAIMENT et. al.

Action for copyright infringement brought by estate of hip-hop performer.

FULA v. INTERSCOPE RECORDS et. al.

Action to obtain damages for contributions to numerous Tupac Shakur songs.

OUTLAWZ v. DEATH ROW RECRODS, et al.

Injunction obtained enjoining record company from interfering with artist’s career and declaring recording agreement terminated.

RODRIGUEZ v. PRIORITY RECORDS et al.

Successfully settled copyright infringement action with respect to various sound recordings released by, “Snoop Dogg,” and various other Snoop Dogg related projects including, “Tha Eastsidaz.”

ROBERT VAUGHN, VD KUSTOMS, INC. v. VON DUTCH, ORG, LLC. et. al.

Settled lawsuit during jury trial against Von Dutch Originals LLC, the company behind the apparel brand “Von Dutch,” brought on behalf of one of its founders.

SHOUT FACTORY LLC v. HARDLINE MUSIC, INC. et. al.

Settled action against a filmmaker with respect to claims arising from deal with the plaintiff concerning the recording artist Cody Chestnut, who decided to drop out of the music business just as his career began to take off.

CALDWELL v. MARX et. al.

Representation of recording artist Bobby Caldwell (“What you won’t do for love”) in an action against his manager of 27 years for breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud and deceit.

TIMAS v. EMC MORTGAGE et. al.

As co-counsel with the renowned plaintiffs attorney Thomas Girardi of Girardi and Keese, successfully prosecuted and settled a lawsuit concerning unfair debt collection practices against an elderly widow.

Successfully defended a bench trial in a lawsuit between partners in a film venture.
