CARDI B COUNTERSUES MANAGER FOR $15 MILLION

On July 5, 2018, Cardi B (real name Belcalis Almanzar) filed counterclaims against her manager after he slapped a $10 million defamation and breach of contract suit against her. She alleges he stole funds deriving from her royalties and deceived her into signing over all of her copyrights for her audio and video recordings. Shaft sued Cardi B last April alleging Cardi breached her contract with him and defamed him and his companies.

Shaft, whose real name is Klenord Raphael, allegedly deceived Cardi B into signing an agreement that gave half of all her royalty rights, a quarter of her entertainment-related activity revenue, and all of her copyrights to an entity fully owned by Shaft.

The case is WorldStar Marketing Group Inc. et al. v. Almanzar et al., case number 1:18-cv-03710, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
